Handy for kids and yes, you can wash them in the dishwasher!Mar 31, 2007
By Two kids mom
"scienceteachermom"
My two young kids love these for ketchup for fries, dip for veggies, salsa, nacho cheese sauce etc. They use a lot less when the stuff is in the bowl as it does not spread all over the plate. They can actually scrape almost everything out of the little bowls.
You can wash them in the dishwasher, but you need a little basket. I still have mine from washing pacifiers and such. The baskets can be found in the infant section of store and are useful for washing any small item (icing tips, small lids etc).

I love these bowlsNov 14, 2005

These little bowls are perfect for chopped herbs, garlic, vanilla. I also use them when working with poultry to hold salt and pepper.
Their flexible shape makes them easy to use. I have small glass bowls as well, but I find myself reaching more for these. Dishwasher safe and they don't take up a lot of space.
These fun bowls definitely make mis en place easier.

"Very Cool" (quote from the wife)Mar 29, 2007
By Jeff Got these for the wife. She loves them!
They hold 1 3/4 ounces and make their own pour spout when squeezed. We also use them for dipping sauces on the table.
Handclean only! They are way too small for the dishwasher.

Endless number of uses and applicationsJan 22, 2009
By W. Zientek-Sico I find myself using these more and more the longer I own them and experiment with them.
As other reviewers have mentioned, these are fantastic for any bakers or cooks that need to use small amounts of spices or other ingredients when cooking. I used to use small Pyrex bowls for this purpose, but these are much easier to use, clean, and store. Plus they do not break or chip and the malleable form allows me to transfer the contents in a controlled manner to even the smallest of containers - such as spices into a salad dressing cruet, garlic into the food processor, baking soda and powder into the stand mixer, etc. Whenever you need to use precisely measured ingredients in a hurry these bowls are essential.
I use them for lots of other purposes as well. When baking or cooking I mix all my spices together in them to make sure the mixture is uniform which is especially handy when you need to sprinkle the mix on top before baking or serving. I also break my eggs individually into them to make sure no shells or deformed yolks are present before adding to my batter. When I need to dissolve an ingredient, such as baking soda in water when making quick breads or garlic/onion powder in water or broth to make sure they do not form any lumps, strong spices like ground ginger or cayenne pepper in a liquid to make sure it distributes evenly throughout the dish, or even proof a small amount of yeast these bowls are absolutely perfect for the task.
The rounded shape and flexible sides also make them a great, low mess way to coat, dip, or roll smaller items in spices, powdered sugar, sprinkles, seeds, or small quantities of anything. Round items, like cookies or truffles work especially well in these containers. I also use them when I need to customize, color, or flavor batches of ingredients, such as frosting, mayonnaise, butter, sugar, melted chocolate, etc.
I also use them for portion control and easy rough measuring of things like dips, mayonnaise, dressing, sauces, chutneys, melted chocolate, dipping oils, sour cream, whipped cream, etc. They hold about two tablespoons and are much, much easier to use and clean than measuring spoons when you do not need exact measurements. The small size of the bowls also makes the quantity seem much more than the same amount in a larger bowl or on a plate which is very helpful for dieters.

Very colorful and handy, but tippy and smaller than expectedJan 18, 2010

"The will to win is nothing without the will to prepare - Juma Ikangaa"
Very colorful and decent for prep and serving small kids. Bright colors are nice and food colors don't seem to transfer to the bowls.
My complaint is that the bases are too small and consequently they tip over very easily. That's OK for Ketchup, not so good for soy sauce. If you flip them inside out it gives them a wider base which helps.
Someone mentioned that they break eggs into these - I find that hard to imagine as these are rather small. We have some stainless mini bowls which are almost an inch larger in diameter (but shallower) which makes them a little more handy (though you can't flex them of course)
I purchased two sets and I think in hindsight I think given the size I only needed one...
