Very satisfied, however............May 28, 2009
By L. Castle Pro: I am very pleased with the compost keeper. I have it in my sink and is very nice looking and unobtrusive. There is no noticeable odor emitting from it.
Con: When I opened the box it came in there was not even a sheet of paper explaining about the filter top. At first I tried to open the top, then realized that wouldn't happen.
Had to spend my time several days to try and find out about filter replacement. Called Amazon and then emailed them. Finally received the phone number of the manufacturer and ultimately talked with a live person. It turns out you just remove the filter by pulling it out of opening and replacing it with a new one. All it would take is a simple piece of paper explaining this.

Unusable after 3 months because side splitSep 01, 2009
By L. F. Cave
I bought this compost pail with a mother's day gift certificate and loved it. However after 3 months of use including washing after emptying the pail in my garden, I found the side right under where the handle connected had split about 2 inches at what appears to be a seam in the metal. I have not found any product guarantee. I have an extra brand new filter set that I won't be able to use.

Looks good and does a great jobJan 22, 2009

No complaints here! Looks great on the counter, and does a great job containing any scent. Good size too, takes a full week for my family of 3 to fill up and we eat lots of fruits and veggies! Would recommend to friends!

So far it's OKJul 09, 2010
By Jennifer M. McKernan We have been using this kitchen Compost Keeper for about 2 weeks now. Since my husband and I don't generate enough trash to empty the garbage daily, we were finding our trash can was constantly getting smelly. Finally, not wanting to waste larger bags that were half full, and being tired of coming home to a stinky kitchen, I decided we needed a Keeper. Besides feeling good about doing another good thing for the environment, our kitchen has been smell-free since we started using this! I bought the biodegradable bags for it as well, and that has made emptying it (as well as clean-up) a breeze. Since we are both teachers and therefore are home for the summer, we are certainly generating more waste. However, we have only needed to empty it every 5 days.
On the flip side, I have two gripes that I am hoping I will be able to find a solution for. First, since it is on our kitchen counter for convenient use, it tends to get spattered with water or just while preparing meals. It is also a shiny stainless, so it has more of a tendency to show fingerprints. When I have tried to wipe it with a wet sponge or paper towel, it streaks and/or doesn't come off. I tried a stainless cleaner, and that was even worse! I'm really hoping I can find some way to keep it clean! Second, while wiping the inside after emptying it yesterday, I noticed some rust stains beginning to form. I don't think that is supposed to happen with a stainless steel product. I went with stainless versus plastic as it seems plastic products absorb smells not matter what you do. However, I will be keeping an eye on the rusting and contacting the manufacturer if it continues.
