adequate butter dishSep 02, 2009
By SovereignJack This butter dish is made in China, in case thats important to you. (I like to support American made products when possible). The quality of the stainless steel is adequate but not great. Its relatively thin and very light weight, but I think it should hold up to drops without denting, although I wouldn't want to step on it accidentally.
The steel has more of a satin finish, not super shiny. My other name brand stainless steel cookware with the 18/10 designation seems to be of much higher quality, so I'm not sure what the 18/10 designation really means.
Also for comparison sake, I have Norpro's stainless steel bread loaf pan, and I think the quality of that is much better than this, it has thicker metal and it has rolled metal edges. The metal edges of this dish are not rolled, so you could potentially have some sharp edges. Luckily mine is not too sharp.
The lid fits very nicely, so thats a big plus. You won't have to worry about your butter getting that refrigerator taste from a loose fitting lid. Overall I think its fairly priced when you consider the free shipping.

Butter dishApr 29, 2009
By Slkrg Not super thick metal but will hold 2 sticks of butter which is why I purchased it. I think it was one of two butter dishes on amazon. Looks nice on the counter. Was shipped to me quickly and a discount coupon was included for my next purchase. Most important I would order it again.

18/10 Stainless Steel Large Butter Dish Set Norpro
You are not going to break this one on that tile floor or in the sink when you drop it. It is well made and can easily go on the kitchen table from the refrigerator. It is large enough to hold two sticks of butter, at a time. Another use , for those of you who like bagels and cream cheese ... it is just right for one regular package of your favorite cream cheese. You will probably want two of these in the house. When its time to clean up, rinse with hot water and pop in the dishwasher. It's a good thing.

Questionable CraftsmanshipSep 08, 2010

I was initially excited to find this for the cheap price. However, the lid did not fit snugly in the tray (the ends were a tad too long compared to the tray) and would sit a bit askew on the tray, which could let in air and dust.

How can you go wrong?Jul 04, 2009
By T. Sobczynski It's the only option I found that's not plastic, has some depth to it so the buttery mess stays inside and off the counter, and has a handle on the lid.
