Not really mixing bowlsJan 09, 2010
By N. Walter Despite being called mixing bowls in the description you would be hard pressed to mix much of anything in any of the bowls but the largest of them. I would classify these as more of a utility/prep bowl, great for holding pre-measured ingredients so they can be kept within arms reach while cooking.
The quaility of the set is about average, they are not the best glass in my kitchen but by far not the worst I have ever come accross. The lids fit snugly though I question how long they will maintain their shape and snug fit.
As I mentioned these are very much a basic utilitarian set of bowls, so if you're looking for something more than that these are probably not it. And as the previous review mentioned, the packaging of these could definitely have been done better.

great and convenientAug 07, 2010
By Kawigirl I was looking for a set of prep bowls. These nest beautifully and are the perfect size for me. If you are looking for large mixing or storage bowls, these would not fill the bill so read the capacities and make sure they're what you need. For me they're the perfect sizes to make me feel like I'm on TV! They lids aren't extremely tight fitting so I don't use them for long term storage.

Terribly packaging, one of the lids was cracked and a piece fell off, cannot use that lid.

cant beat the price - but not for microwave!Nov 20, 2010

I just bought this set (with blue lids) at Ross for 8 bucks, but would have considered myself lucky to pay twice that. Comparable sized bowls by pyrex or other big names are much much more for a single bowl and a set would be very very expensive. I agree they are not top quality (glass is thin-walled and lids fit snug now, but I suspect they will crack or stretch). The set was packaged with cardboard betwn the bowls and shrink wrapped inside a cardboard box, so no complaints about the packaging. They are small, which was obvious to me from the label and packaging. THey are perfect for single portion leftovers, unfinished cut fruit, spreads (hummus, etc). I was happy to make the switch from semi-disposable plastic to glass for these jobs for this price. My only concern is that they are made with toxic chemicals...one can only hope not. I don't plan on using the lid in the microwave.
revised: do not use in microwave at all! 1st time i reheated something the bowl cracked. I use only for fridge. 1/5/11

covers are delicate and the glass is thinMar 21, 2011

I like to send my daughter's school lunch in glass bowls because I don't like the thought of microwaving plastic. The sizes of the bowls are great, but the lids are made of a very brittle plastic and one has already begun to break. They also don't offer a very good seal, so anything at all liquidy will spill. Also, the glass seems very thin. I haven't broken a bowl yet, but I expect to soon!
