Very disappointing. The description said it was made of hardwood, so we ordered it to replace an older one bought at a department store. Upon receiving and inspecting the item it was discovered that it was not made of hardwood as advertized but of pine, actually we could smell it!. Futhermore, the wood was not finished at all (lacquered) to protect it from wet dishes. Also the workmanship was pretty poor. So we returned it.

1WorthlessNov 20, 2008

Horrible dish rack. I am unsure if the manufacturing process has changed since the other reviews, but the first time I used it the end pieces came undone. They use one flimsy, smooth nail for each side (support)and do not use any glue on those pieces to assist in keeping it together. It is inexpensive for a dishrack, but awfully expensive kindling. Do not waste your time.

1POOR QUALITYNov 30, 2010

Badly packed, came apart at the corners when I first unfolded it. Had two chips out of the wood slats and is no better than the one I was replacing which was cheaper.

1Hardware pleaseJun 29, 2010
By Eileen F. Wheeler
If you like to repair things recently bought, this is the item for you.
Within a week of purchase the hardware holding together the dish rack allowed the whole rack to pull apart. Lovely. Two engineers in the family (including me) had it repaired in a jiffy with screws replacing meager nails on a few key joints. There are some substantial hardware screws at key hinges designed to flex-store the item; these have remained intact. Another week here holding dishes drying; another set of repairs of flimsy nails holding the rack drying surface. Again a week; more screws replacing inadequate nails. Additional week....more repairs.....you get the routine. In addition to the original nails that do not hold, we were screwed. I wish I could say something nicer. Having replaced a worn (but strong), wooden rack of the same concept this is a brighter, newer alternative. Unless you have brass and/or stainless steel screws available and interest/time for multiple repairs as the rack falls apart, I suggest you look elsewhere. Unfortunately. Wooden racks look so much more home than plastic and can be valuable additions to the kitchen. Wooden racks can be quite strong in addition to attractive. Norpro has simply designed such a lightweight product that it is not useful.

4Had mine for years and just now ready to replace.Apr 04, 2009

Its wood and held together w/ little nails. Its going to fall apart. I'm replacing mine tonight. I had it for 6 years. Yes I glued it w/ wood glue back together again after a couple of years. Its not going to be something you pass down to your grandchildren. It holds and dries dishes. Compared to the cheap, ugly, plastic one this rocks. Like I said if you're slightly handy this will last awhile and look much cooler than the wire one you can get at Wal-Mart.
